40-48 Provost Street, North Melbourne
This colourful row of five triple storey townhouses was completed in 2010 and built by developers IGR Property Group Pty Ltd.
The first planning applications were made in 2008 to the City of Melbourne which received 11 objections from neighbours in the low scale street.1
The podium of the second level is the most striking feature, with a postmodern mix of rectangles and squares grey and coloured shades arranged in groups of vertical and horizontal arranged into three main pavillions. Different colour sets differentiate the pavillions, blue, red and yellow. The entry door to each is also marked by each of these colours.
The construction is pre-cast concrete. The penthouse is modern glass and set back affording generous balconies and panoramic views of the Melbourne CBD.
